Volunteer FAQ
What is the time commitment for volunteering?
Time commitments vary by role. One-time projects might take 2-4 hours, while youth mentors typically commit to 2 hours per week for at least one school semester.
Do I need a background check?
Yes, for any role involving direct interaction with youth, we require PA Child Abuse, PA State Police, and FBI Fingerprint clearances.
Can youth under 18 volunteer?
Absolutely! We encourage peer leadership. Youth volunteers under 18 will need parental consent and will work alongside adult mentors.
What kind of training is provided?
All volunteers receive an orientation on our mission and values. Role-specific training covers youth mental health basics, drug prevention education, and safety protocols.
Where do volunteer activities take place?
Opportunities take place across York County, including local schools, community centers, Stewartstown events, and our main hub.
