Hello Community Members,

We are seeking partners to collaborate on an upcoming Communities Talk event aimed at supporting mental health and substance abuse prevention in our community. This initiative, backed by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), empowers local organizations to host meaningful conversations and activities that promote prevention and community engagement.

We are currently planning our event for mid-October and would love to explore partnership opportunities. Whether it’s through co-hosting, sharing resources, assisting with outreach and promotion, or contributing your expertise as a speaker, we welcome your involvement. We would also be happy to hear any ideas you may have!

Why Partner With Us?

Partnering with us is a powerful way to help prevent substance use in [town]. By joining forces, you can:

  • Amplify Your Impact: Connect with youth, families, and community members through meaningful prevention messages while showcasing your leadership by aligning with this nationally recognized initiative for youth and community wellness.

  • Build Lasting Relationships: Form connections with other local organizations, schools, coalitions, and changemakers who share similar goals. Your involvement demonstrates a collective commitment to protecting the health and well-being of our neighbors.

  • Gain Visibility: Benefit from event promotion, media outreach, and recognition in promotional materials. This could include having your photos, videos, and quotes featured on SAMHSA's digital media platforms.

Ways to Get Involved:

  • Co-host or sponsor the event

  • Share Communities Talk promotional materials with your networks

  • Provide a speaker or spokesperson, especially if they are a youth leader

  • Help brainstorm creative event or outreach ideas

I would be happy to set up a quick call or send more details. You can also learn more about the initiative at [samhsa.gov/communities-talk](https://samhsa.gov/communities-talk). Thank you for considering this opportunity to make a difference.

Best regards,

Sam

Smartphone Technology: A Powerful Tool for Staying Connected and Drug-Free

In today’s world, our lives are more connected than ever. At Drug Free Youth, we believe that empowerment comes from making the right choices and having the support you need at your fingertips. While we often talk about the importance of face-to-face connection in Scioto County, the Smartphone has become an essential ally in our mission to help students lead healthy, drug-free lives.

Access to Instant Support and Resources For a young person facing peer pressure or going through a tough time, a Smartphone can be a lifeline. Whether it’s using a dedicated app to track healthy habits or having a direct line to a mentor or a crisis text line, technology allows us to bring prevention resources directly to where the youth are. Instead of feeling alone, students can use their devices to stay plugged into the DFY community and find…
